Wolverines Take On Centaurs
The Griswold Wolverines took on the Woodstock Academy Centaurs for the first time since January 2016, when the Wolverines had beaten the Centaurs 55-49. Tonight the Wolverines got off to a slow start, allowing the first four points of the game to Cole Hackett of the Centaurs. Griswold got the ball moving with Chris Roddy putting up seven points, and Nick Gileau posting six points by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter began with the Centaurs only down two, but they weren’t able to keep up with the Wolverines. Max Gregory put up seven points, and Bryce Mileski had five points in the second quarter. By the end of the first half, Griswold had jumped out to a 36 to 29 lead. The third quarter started out with both teams trading points, including a deep, three point shot by Wolverine Logan McGeowan. The Centaurs tried to stay with the Wolverines but fell further behind. Luke Matthewson led the Centaurs with 4 points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter started with a 14 point lead for Griswold. The Wolverines only had two successful field goals in the fourth quarter, with the rest of their points gained on free-throws. Max Gregory had two free-throws and a field goal to finish his night with 16 points. Chris Roddy had two free-throws to cap his night as the Wolverines’ game leader with 17 points. The Wolverines defeated the Centaurs 69-57. The next game for the Wolverines is this Friday at Tourtellotte. The next game for the Centaurs is also on Friday, against Montville.
